  Disaster Relief

2010 Hurricane Preparedness

This year's hurricane season will begin the first of June and will last until the end of November. In light of the severe storms, high winds, and devastating damages that natural disasters have caused Teamster families to endure over the years, the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund (TDRF) suggests the implementation of Hurricane Emergency Action Plans.

Effective plans outline critical steps in pre-hurricane planning, facility shutdown procedures, and impending hurricane measures taken during and after the disaster.

Assuring the safety and security of our Teamster members and their families is a priority of ours and is not taken lightly. Therefore, we employ you to reference the free guides provided by the:

American Red Cross Association - www.redcross.org
Occupational & Safety Health Association - www.osha.gov
Federal Emergency Management Agency - www.fema.gov

When a disaster is declared a "Federal Disaster," the TDRF will notify the IBT Local Unions and Joint Councils in the affected area. Thank you for your continued support of the TDRF, and together we can make a difference in the lives of all Teamsters.
